Gauge (Thickness)
Gauge refers to the thickness of the jewellery post or wire. The higher the gauge number, the thinner the piece.

Hoop Diameter
Hoop sizing is measured in two ways: inner diameter (the space inside the hoop that sits against your ear) and outer diameter (the full width of the hoop including the setting).

Inner diameter is the most important measurement for fit — this is the space that sits around your ear lobe or cartilage. The outer diameter reflects the visible size of the piece.
Bar / Post Length
Bar length is relevant for threadless ends, labret studs, and similar styles. It is the length of the post that passes through your piercing.

Post length should match the depth of your piercing. If your piercing is freshly healed or on the thicker side, speak to your piercer to confirm the right length for you.
